Warm temperatures in Europe impact the start of the cross-country, ski jumping seasons

With a week to go until the open of the cross-country and ski-jumping seasons, races are being moved and training sessions altered due to a lack of snow on account of warm autumn temperatures.

Without a World Championships or Olympics this winter, the proof of the
pudding will come down to the Tour de Ski and World Cup excellence for
the winter of 2012. In a very real way, it's nice and will be a
cross-country skiing season without tons of pressure and distraction.

If you're counting the days, as I am, to the start of the FIS World Cup
cross-country season, have faith it's just around the corner. Nineteen
World Cup venues are on the calendar for the season, which will kick off
in Beitostoelen, Norway on Nov. 19.

I remember being moved by the play "That Championship Season," which ran
on Broadway at the Booth Theater from 1972-74. The production won a
Tony Award in 1973. It was a powerful play about life's realities and a
dying coach.

Cup win over the weekend, and it was also the second victory she's had
this season. During all three of these victories, there's been one common denominator: Randall's husband was there to see them.

In only a few days the FIS World Nordic Ski Championships slated for
Oslo, Norway will begin. Real Nordic fans can't wait, for they know that
this championship will be as good as it gets. 21 competitions will take
place from Feb. 23 to March 6.
