LAKE PLACID, New York (AP) - Lyndon Rush of Canada was the leader halfway through the two-man competition at the world bobsled championships on Saturday.
Rush and brakeman Jesse Lumsden laid down a combined time of 1 minute, 51.59 seconds on their two runs down the tricky 20-turn track at Mount Van Hoevenberg. They were just 0.12 seconds ahead of Steven Holcomb and Steve Langton of the United States.
Maximilian Arndt and Kevin Kuske of Germany were in third, 0.21 seconds behind the leaders.
World Cup champ Beat Hefti and brakeman Thomas Lamparter were in fourth in Switzerland-1, 0.31 off the lead.
Russian star Alexsandr Zubkov, who finished fourth in the World Cup, was disqualified for being underweight on the first run.
The last two heats are on Sunday.
