GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) - Hannes Reichelt of Austria was the fastest in Thursday's training run for a World Cup downhill race on the Kandahar course but missed a gate like many top competitors on a badly prepared slope.
The run was delayed by an hour as workers tried to improve the conditions but many racers complained of an uneven, soft and bumpy run.
Reichelt clocked 1 minute, 57.62 seconds. Peter Fill of Italy was 0.65 seconds behind and Klaus Kroell of Austria 0.92 second back.
Swiss aces Didier Cuche and Beat Feuz were 17th and 23rd, respectively, both also missing a gate. The downhill is on Saturday.
